SMFS at Bouchercon 2023


Bouchercon 2023: San Diego begins this Wednesday in San Diego, California, at the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina. Numerous SMFS members will be attending and actively participating on panels, book signings, and more. The list below features just some of the many activities featuring SMFS list members. Please remember that times and room locations as well as panelists and other details are subject to change. More information can be found at the official website. 

 

Events 

Wednesday Evening

8:30 pm. Various SMFS members participate in the Cozies and Cocktails event.

 

Thursday Morning

7:00 AM  Various SMFS list members participate in Author Speed Dating.

 

12:30 PM    Crime Trivia with James L’Etoile (Author Spotlight).

 

2:30 PM   Curtis Ippolito, among others, discuss writing about their different regions of California (Author Spotlight).

 

Thursday Evening  

 

During opening ceremonies, Past President Robert Lopresti will present Derringer medals to the 2023 Derringer Award winners that are in attendance. More information on the winners and the categories they won in can be found here. 


6:00 PM  Various SMFS list members will be participating in the signing of the Bouchercon anthology, Killin’ Time in San Diego.

 

8:30 PM Various SMFS list members will be participating in the signing and launch party of the anthology, Crime Under the Sun.

 

Friday Morning

 

8:30 AM  Whet Your Appetite with Two Cozy Culinary Writers: Edith Maxwell aka Maddie Day will chat about her popular cozy series, and food, of course! (Author Spotlight)

 

11:45 AM  Various SMFS list members participate in Author Speed Dating.

 

Saturday

 

7:00 AM   Various SMFS list members will be participating in the Speed Dating event.

 

8:00 AM  Josh Pachter talks about anthologies inspired by singer/songwriters (Author Spotlight).

 

3:00 PM   Robert Lopresti: How Librarians Tracked A Rare Book Thief (Author Spotlight)
