The SMFS at Malice Domestic 28
Established in 1989, Malice Domestic™ is an annual fan convention in the metropolitan Washington D.C. area that celebrates the traditional mystery, best typified by the works of Agatha Christie, containing no explicit sex, excessive gore, or violence.
Malice Domestic 28 (April 29–May 1)'s Agatha Awards were voted on by attendees registered by December 31, 2015. The top-voted entries were reviewed by the Agatha committee and the convention's board of directors and announced as the finalists in February. Ballots listing the finalists were given to all Malice Domestic 28 attendees, with the winners announced at the April 30 awards banquet.
All five Best Short Story finalists are SMFS members: Barb Goffman, Edith Maxwell, Terrie Farley Moran, Harriette Sackler, and B.K. Stevens. Barb Goffman won for "A Year Without Santa Claus", published in the January/February 2015 issue of Alfred Hitchcock's Mystery Magazine.
The SMFS's Art Taylor won Best First Novel for On the Road with Del & Louise.
And member Annette Dashofy was a finalist for Best Contemporary Novel with Bridges Burned.
Congratulations to all.
