The SMFS would like to announce and congratulate our list
members for their award wins at the Public Safety Writers Association
conference held earlier this month.
David Dean came in first place for his book, The
Wisdom of Serpents and Other Stories of Tragic Misunderstandings, in
the “Long Form, Short Story Collection.” The book was published by Genius Books.
Jim Guigli came in second place for his short story, Blood
on the Stairs, in the “Short Form, Fiction, Short Story, Published” category.
The tale was originally published in Crimeucopia:
We'll Be Right Back -- After This! From Murderous Ink Press. Edited
by John Connor.
James L'Etoile came in first place for his novel, Dead
Drop: A Detective Nathan Parker Novel, in the “The Marilyn Meredith
Award for Excellence in Published Book-Length Fiction” category. The book was
published by Level Best Books.
Mr. L'Etoile's short story, Convict Code, won an Honorable Mention in the “Short Form, Fiction,
Short Story, Published” category. The story appeared in the anthology, The
Tattered Blue Line: Short Stories of Contemporary Policing. Edited
by Frank Zafiro.
Vicki Weisfeld came in second place for the book, Architect
of Courage, in the “Long Form, Fiction, Published” category. The
book was published by Black Opal Books.
Frank Zafiro came in third place for the book, TheRide-Along: A Charlie-316 Novel in the “Long Form, Fiction, Published”
category. Cowritten with Colin Conway and published by High Speed Creative, LLC.
Mr. Zafiro’s book, The
Worst Kind Of Truth: A River City Novel, won an Honorable Mention
in the “Long Form, Fiction, Published” category. The book was published by Code
4 Press.
