The SMFS at Bouchercon 2013 in Albany, NY

President Tom Sweeney will announce the 2013 Derringer winners at the opening ceremonies of Bouchercon 2013, Thursday, September 19, 7:30–9:00 P.M. in Hart Theater at The Egg. Jim Doherty will send physical plaques to the winners when they are ready.

Bouchercon runs September 19–22. If you are attending or would like to announce a panel or event, please comment on this post. Hope to see you there.

Herschel Cozine is organizing an SMFS Members' Lunch at Bouchercon. He asks that everyone interested gather on Friday, 12:30 P.M. by the registration tables on the Concourse Level of the Empire State Plaza.

  1. I'll be moderating the panel Surprises: Keeping your readers turning the pages. Saturday at 1:50 p.m. Panelists will be Graham Brown, Richard Doetsch, David Freed, Roger Hobbs, Ed Lin, and Keith McCafferty. Room 2.

    I'll be on the panel Pressure: Trials and tribulations of a modern author. Sunday at 9 a.m. Fellow panelists will be Frankie Bailey, John Burley, Aric Davis, and Koethi Zan. Room 2.

    I'll also be attending the opening ceremonies on Thursday evening, at which the Macavity Awards will be given (as well as the Derringers), and the Saturday night ceremony at which the Anthony Awards will be given.

  2. I’ll moderate two panels. On Thursday at 4 p.m., it’s "World War II and Sons," with James R. Benn, J. Robert Janes, John Lawton, Martin Limón, and Susan Elia MacNeal talking about crime before, during, and after wartime.

    On Friday at 10:20 a.m., I have "Goodnight, My Angel: Hard-Boiled, Noir, and the Reader's Love Affair With Both," with Eric Beetner, Mike Dennis, Dana King, Terrence McCauley, and Jonathan Woods.
